Dr. Trudy Horsting is a Senior Research Manager at MMR Strategy Group. Her experience includes survey design, interviewing, and analysis and reporting for a variety of social science applications, as well as the design and facilitation of surveys, focus groups, and experiments in a social science laboratory. As a political scientist, she has studied the influence of political rhetoric on citizens and political leaders during crisis situations, responses to attack ads, and young adults’ perceptions of politics and COVID-19. She is also an experienced writer.
Prior to joining MMR Strategy Group, Trudy managed a team at Dosii, where she facilitated data collection and the production of informational content. She also served as a research assistant for a variety of grant-funded projects and participates regularly in various conferences and workshops.
Trudy completed a PhD and a master’s degree in political science at Arizona State University. Her dissertation is entitled “Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words? Exploring the Influence of Informal and Impromptu Political Rhetoric on Twitter During Crisis.” Her research interests include media in politics, public opinion, and the role of political discourse on social media in shaping political behavior. She has published articles in American Politics Research and the Journal of Political Marketing, in addition to a book chapter with Edward Elgar Publishers.
